We try to give the young people who attend our summer camps a tasteĀ of farm life. After the pledge to the flag and a prayer for safety we start our day feeding and grooming the horses. Once they are ready we have structured lesson time mounted up in the indoor arena. Sometimes we ride to music and sometimes we play mounted horseback games. In the afternoons when it gets hot we give the horses a break and do some other things around the farm. Feeding and watering the chickens and gathering eggs. Feeding the meat rabbits. Checking on all the horses in the pastures and making sure they have water. Picking apples in the orchard and tomatoes in the garden. We also head down to the creek to cool off and have some fun. This is the way our kids were raised and we are blessed to be able to share the wonderful things about farm life from a time gone by with children today. Memories that will last a lifetime no matter where your child's life may take them.
Some of the young people from one of the summer horse camps describe what they liked best about pony camp 2010.
Not everything is about horses although they are the star attraction. Here the kids learn about planting potatoes and picking tomatoes. Then it was time to feed the chickens and gather eggs.
